- Course Description: A brief overview of basic principles of geochemistry, including origin of the elements, geochemical and cosmochemical classification of the elements, and a geochemical perspective of the periodic table. This is followed by an examination of the compositions and chemical interactions among the major geochemical reservoirs of the solid earth, including core, upper and lower mantles, oceanic and continental crust, and the sedimentary shell of the Earth.
