- Klein, C. Manual of Mineral Science, 22nd Edition, John Wiley, 2002 (Referred to hereafter as K)
- Blatt, H., and Tracy, R.J.; Petrology, 2nd Edition, W.H. Freeman, 1996 (Referred to hereafter as BT)
Items For Lecture
- The textbooks for the class will be useful to have on hand during the lectures.
- A notebook for taking notes and drawing diagrams.
- Pencils and pens with which to write and draw.
- Any handouts given out during the course of the semester.
- A folder or binder of some sort to keep all of the handouts and diagrams in.
Items For Lab
- All of the items listed to bring to lecture.
- A set of colored pencils.
- A lab notebook, or other source of paper to do practice drawings on before transferring the final drafts to the lab handout.
- A ruler to help draw straight lines.
- A Calculator capable of performing at least trig functions.
- A protractor may come in handy for some drawings.
- Graph paper is definitely a worthwhile investment.
- Common sense and a willingness to learn and work!
Most of these items can be purchased at the Bookstore on Campus, and those things that can't be found there are available at Office Max just west of the campus on Route 347.
