GEO 306 Lab 11
Igneous and Metamorphic Rocks
To download an electronic copy of this lab (Adobe PDF File), Click Here. This laboratory exercise consists completely of hand sample analysis, but is broken into two major parts. The first part of the lab has the students looking at igneous rock samples they have already seen, and applying new concepts to them. The students are to examine the rocks and use them to determine the tectonic environments they were formed in. The second part of the lab has the students examining and classifying metamorphic rock samples. The information gained from examining these rocks is then used to interpret their metamorphic histories.
The handout on Rock Classification from a few weeks back will come in handy this week as well. To download an electronic copy of this handout (Adobe PDF File), Click Here.
