Please be on time!Words from the Suttas/Sutras
"Monks, if for just the time of a finger-snap a monk produces a thought of loving-kindness, develops it, gives attention to it, such a one is rightly called a monk. Not in vain does he meditate. He acts in accordance with the Master's teaching, he follows his advice, and eats deservingly the country's alms-food. How much more so if he cultivates it!"--Anguttara Nikaya, I, viii..Quote of the Week
One time I complained to my teacher that he had never taught me anything. He said to me, "Come, let us switch roles for the moment. I will be your student and you my teacher. Just do to me whatever I did to you."I said, "But sir, I don't know how."
"Don't you worry, you will know." Having said that, he fetched a bowl with a hole in it and stood in front of me with closed eyes. Raising the bowl, he said, "Teacher, please give me something."
I replied, "How can I give you anything? Your bowl has a hole in it!" He opened his eyes and said, "That's just like you. You also have a hole in your head and you are asking me for teachings."
