Critiques of Abraham Lincoln Sites:

Effective Sites

http://www.historyplace.com/lincoln/index.html: This is an excellent site, which is a chronology of the life and history of Abraham Lincoln from birth until death. The layout is very clear, as is the text. Pictures accompany the text, and there are links to such historical events as the Emancipation Proclamation, The Battle of Gettysburg, The Kansas-Nebraska Act, and The Dred Scott Decision. Not only would this site be effective for students who want to research Lincoln himself, but some of the more important events which he was instrumental in.

http://www.ihs1830.org/alinc.htm: This brief description is to the point, and would be effective in compressing the amount of material which the students would be required to read. There is a picture of the former president, as well as some history of his greatest accomplishments.

http://libertyonline.hypermall.com/Lincoln/index.html: This site contains the following links to events and speeches given by the 16th President of the Unites States: Lincoln's First Inagural Address, The Emancipation Proclamation, Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, and Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address

http://www.hist.unt.edu/09w-acw6.htm: This page is a lengthy list of links to related sites on Abraham Lincoln and other leaders during the Civil War. There is a link to another page which has a list of links to the Civil War. Under the links for Abraham Lincoln, one could learn about his wife Mary Todd Lincoln, Quotes from President Lincoln, and Questions about Lincoln's Assassination.

http://www.hurricane.net/~cynedyr/lincoln/linname.html: This site describes Lincoln's role as Commander in Chief during the Civil War, and describes him as "one of the greatest statesmen this country, and this world, has ever seen". There are several links to other sites about him, as well as a link to the state of Kentucky, where he was born and raised.

http://www.grolier.com/presidents/aae/bios/16plinc.html: This is a comprehensive web site on the life and presidency of Abraham Lincoln presented by Grolier Encyclopedia. It give details about his early life, his term as an Illinois Legislator and the Whig Party, his experience as a lawyer and U.S. Representative, the slavery issue and the Lincoln-Douglas debates, his election to the U.S. Presidency, the Civil War, and provides a list of further reading.

http://www.nyu.edu/pages/curator/jackson/jt-linco.html:

http://www.ticketmaster.com/events/MW/IL/NONSPORTS/ARTS/ BRAHAM_LINCOLN_EXHIBIT

Both of these sites are innefective, because neither of the servers could be contacted, and the web sites could not be reached.

http://esu9.esu9.k12.ne.us/~hastings/abl_pic.html: This site describes the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. Although it has something to do with education, it has nothing to do with the subject matter. It only provides a few pictures of this school which is located in Hastings, Nebraska.
