As a seeker of new ideas and lover of creativity, I have learned many interesting and amazing topics about new media and visual interpretations from this class which I have never thought that I would learn ever in my life. Through out the whole semester, I have gathered skills and a lot of experiences which made me more confident and more comfortable with the programs and tools that we use in the media for images, videos and so on. Now I am more comfortable with various computer programs such as Adobe Photoshop, iPhoto, iMovie and one of the most exciting program for web site designing which is the Dreamweaver. All these programs are really useful in exploring and creating various visual media. I have also learned the various impacts of visual media on contemporary culture. Interpretation benefits greatly in many applications when images are viewed in stereo, as visualization of targets is enhanced dramatically. Visual interpretation using different elements is often a part of our daily lives, whether we are conscious of it or not. Photoshop is an amazing program to play with an image and to make it as fancy and interesting as we want. For the Collage project, Photoshop has taught me lot about how to be more creative by using various tools to create an original work with an image. I have learned how to use the layers, merging images, cropping, transforming, extracting, rotating, adjusting and so on. The tools that I really enjoyed working in Photoshop are the clone stamp tool, the blur tool and the filter option. The slideshow project in iPhoto was also a great experience to work with a bunch of original photos taken by me while I was in a campaign for the welfare of poor children. The music added with the photos, made the whole slideshow more real and attractive. But the project that I really enjoyed making was the digital video and then editing it in the iMovie. Editing clips, transitions, credits, adding audio, exporting files- all these seemed really challenging and time consuming. Still it was a great way to learn how to edit the clips of the video, add transitions in the timeline and put effects onto it. I was having a little trouble doing this project in manipulating the audio levels of the sound track which made me more strong and confident later to finish up the project perfectly. By creating this web site using Dreamweaver, it seemed that I have accomplished all the basic skills that one needs to know to work with the new generation of media and arts. Besides all these programs, I also got to know many of the basic facts about an image from this class which really helped me a lot to get an idea about many other visual elements of an image and to interpret the image perfectly such as the tone, shape, size, pattern, texture, shadow, and association. Tone of an image which is the relative brightness or color of objects in an image.Shape can be a very distinctive clue for interpretation. Size of objects in an image is a function of scale. Pattern also counts as it is the spatial arrangement of visibly discernible objects. Texture refers to the arrangement and frequency of tonal variation in particular areas of an image .Shadow is also helpful in interpretation as it may provide an idea of the profile. Associationtakes into account the relationship between other recognizable objects in proximity to the target of interest and by combining all these terms, we get a perfect view of an image to look at and to get started using all these programs that I have talked about so far. |
