The Holocaust took place from 1933 to 1945, and millions of innocent people were persecuted and murdered. Just because this historical event took place, does not mean that it had to happen. The Holocaust took place because individuals, groups, and nations made decisions to act or not to act. By focusing on those decisions, we gain insight into history and human nature. You will be introduced three survivors of the Nazi regime, these woman were guided by their inner conscience to stand-up for what they believe was right and resisted.

Margrot Strom of Facing History and Ourselves said of survivor history, "Their accounts reveal that the Holocaust is no more a "Jewish story" or a "German story" then it is a human story. It is a story that prompts reflection about the complexities of good and evil and about one's responsibilities to the self and others"(2)
