Requirements for nominees

Core Officer Positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Sgt. of Arms)

In order to be nominated and elected for any of these positions you must have acceptable attendance for either the Fall 2004 or Spring 2005 semester. This means you fufilled the membership requirement of attending 60% of meetings. We will have a record of all attendance at the meeting so you may check to make sure if you qualify.

Below is a brief description of some of the core officer's responsibilities.

President:

- Make sure that all the officers and commitees are accomplishing their goals

- Be able to make decisions and delegate responsibilities

- In the Spring Semester work on the budget with the Treasurer for the following year

Vice President:

- Substitute for the President when he/she is unable to fulfill his/her duties

- Help the president keep the other officers and committees focused on completing their goals

Treasurer:

- Keep track of the budget and make sure it is never in danger of being frozen

- Create a budget proposal in the Spring semester for the following year

- Handle all the paperwork dealing with the Accounting office

Secretary:

- Take attendance at each meeting and make sure to give them to the treasurer

- Send out emails regularly and keep the email account tidy

- Towards the end of the spring semester work on a compiled attendance list

Sgt. of Arms:

- Keeps the crowd from getting too rowdy or loud.

- Helps the meeting maintain an orderly and timely schedule

 

Commitee Chair Positions (Outreach, Events, Mentorship, Public Relations, AIDS)

In order to run for a chair position you must have attended at least 60% of either the Fall or Spring semester (membership requirement). We will have a record of attendance at the meeting if you want to check your status. Please note, that there may be more than one chairperson for any committee (up to three co-chairs allowed). However, If you do not have the attendance requirement, but would like to be involved, being part of a committee is a great way, or you may even start your own committee if the idea is approved by the core officers.

Below is a brief description of a Committee chairperson's resposibilities.

Committee Chairperson

- Set up a regular time and schedule for committee meetings

- Provide and keep the club informed of any events or opportunities pertaining to their committee

- Provide complete budget requests when requesting money

- Keep the core officers informed of their progress or any issues that may arise
