  • Traits developed through Phiota: Traits developed through Phiota: I have gained a deep sense of appreciation for the very smallest things in life because of Phi Iota Alpha. Everybody has their struggles. We should never look at our struggles as a reason to feel sorry for ourselves, but as a challenge that we will overcome to better ourselves. I have been able to better myself in many areas of my life. Above all, I have gained a family. Not only do I call these people Brothers because we are part of the same organization; I call them Brothers because we truly have become family.

This organization has taught me the value of brotherhood and how to work together with different people. I believe the most important thing this organization has taught me is how to be a leader. It has given me the confidence to assume a leadership role in any activity.

The process taught me how to be humble and how to work with others by respecting and accepting the way that they are. This organization has bestowed upon me good professional and educational skills that I will keep for the rest of my life. Phi Iota Alpha has giving me a familia away from home in which we all appreciate each other and share unconditional love.

  • Education: Environmental Studies Major with Ecosystems and Human Impact Minor
  • Traits developed through Phiota: This organization have taught me a lot about myself and the importance of family, professionalism, heritage and brotherhood. The process of becoming a brother has pushed my limits to a whole new level and I was able to discover the hidden potential and strengths I had. I was able to develop and improve my social and leadership skills that would be necessary in the future. I have also learned to appreciate everything I had, especially family and friendship which were the greatest support anyone could have. Through the ideas of Pan-Americanism, I was given an opportunity to learned and embrace the Latino culture and my own. In addition and most importantly, I realized the importance of brotherhood and unity: A single individual can only contribute so much but as a unified group we can make a bigger difference.
