Chavelo

Chavelo
  • Name: Andres "Chavelo" Calvache
  • Education: Undergrad
  • Traits developed through Phiota: Phi Iota Alpha helped solidify the already present traits I possessed as an individual of strong character and resolve, making them into a true asset for my own, as well as my chapter's well being. Its teachings on brotherhood also opened my eyes to the inherent neccessity for us, as a Latino community at Stony Brook, to work towards helping each other and forming those unbreakable bonds to improve the lives of all those we can call brothers.

Moronta

Moronta
  • Name: Jesse "Moronta" Sánchez
  • Education: BA Latin American History
  • Traits developed through Phiota: Becoming part of Phi Iota Alpha helped me be humble and have a better understanding of where I come from. I have also learned professional and leadership skills that I know will be useful in any career. This unique experience has allowed me to understand myself and others, giving me a personal glimpse into the ideal of Pan-Americanism. Professionalism, Academic Excellence, and FamIliA is something that will forever be instilled in my heart after becoming a Phiota.

  • Current profession: Financial Counselor at GreenPath, Inc.
