Mission Statement

To unite all minority organizations under MPB and to provide the campus with a diverse array of programming for the purpose of educating the campus community on historically underrepresented groups and to increase tolerance and understanding. And as the Minority Planning Board, to increase student awareness and participation among minority groups and organizations.

 

 What is MPB?

 The Minority Planning Board is a polity-funded service organization. This organization has three main functions. One is to hold lectures, concerts, parties, workshops, and other activities which represent the historically underrepresented groups on campus. The second function is to aid the minority groups and organization within MPB in their programming for the academic year. The other function is to monitor the Student Activities Board (SAB) and make certain that they follow Affirmative Action/ Equal Opportunity guidelines.

How is MPB run?

MPB is made up of two major parts, the Executive Board (E-Board) and the General Body. There are eight positions on the MPB E-Board. Seven positions are student elected positions and one is Polity-appointed (Executive Chair position). The E-Board meets weekly and handles the day-to-day tasks of MPB. The General Body is made up you the students and representatives elected for each of the 20 affiliated organizations within MPB. The General Body meets bi-weekly at a designated time and place. All the above members have voting power except for the Executive Chair who prepares the agenda for the meetings and delegates them.
