USB Pre-Dental Society

WELCOME BACK!!

NEW!! Welcome back everyone to a new semester.

The Next meeting will be held on:

Wednesday, Feb. 7th at 7 PM

- A Kaplan DAT representative will be there to discuss the benefits, scheduling, opprotunities and discounts of Kaplan.

- Also, the Pre-Dental tee shirt was briefly discussed at the end of the last meeting. Just as a rough estimate, the costs of the shirts should be covered by the funds we recieve from the Student Government. If all costs are not able to be covered, then each student will be asked to pay approximately $1 per shirt. We are not sure about final costs yet.

PLEASE EMAIL Pre-Dental@hotmail.com if you want

--a Pre-Dental tee shirt
--your printed on the back of the shirt
--to help design the shirt!!!

We encourage everyone to attend.

Things to keep in mind::

  • Freshman: You should start observing at the clinic at the dental school, also observing/assisting at a private dental office!! Start developing good studying habits, some transition will need to be made to deal with the new work load that differ from high school. If you did poorly your first semester don't stress to much, you have plenty of time to improve upon it.
  • Sophomores: Make sure your fulfilling your prerequisites, also you should be observing at the clinic at the dental school, also observing/assisting at a private dental office!! If you have any questions or are interested in becoming involved please email us!!!!!!
  • Juniors: You should be finishing up you prerequisites for dental school. Also start studying for your DAT. Your goal should be to have your application sent out by June, and have taken your DATs by August.
  • Seniors: Try to stay focused and fight off any senioritis. Figure out your plans for after graduation

Things to keep in mind through your academic "quest:":

  • Great, not good grades. You should definitely be "above average." You need to put the time in!!
  • Obtaining letters of recommendation.
  • Staying Focused & Work Hard.
  • Try to stay organized and manage your time well.
  • Find time to do things you enjoy other than academics!!!!

  • Check out our new Programs page and learn how you can gain a mentor!!
