THURSDAY LECTURE:

"Buddhism and Western Psychology" by PROF. MARVIN LEVINE

From his birth in 1928, Marvin Levine lived in the New York City area (Brooklyn, Jersey City, Manhattan) until he was 21, when he received a Bachelors Degree from Columbia University. This was followed by an MA from Harvard and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin. In 1965 he joined the Psychology Department of the then new State University at Stony Brook (he and John Toll arrived the same day). He is still in residence here as Professor Emeritus. During a long career as a researcher he somehow found time to study Buddhism and Yoga, to be on call as a mediator for Suffolk County, and most recently to write poetry. His first book of poetry, Look Down from Clouds, was published by Writers Ink Press in 1997.
